The second annual Texas Book Festival was held on November 1st and 2nd near the State Capitol in Austin, Texas. Gary Lavergne, the author of A Sniper in the Tower, was one of the featured authors. The festival is the biggest book bash in the state celebrating both the libraries and the literature of Texas by showing more than 100 authors in the Capitol and hosting a fun-filled book fair outside. Once again, the festival's proceeds will benefit the state's public libraries.

Texas' first lady, Laura Bush, served as the Honorary Chairman of the festival, which featured book signings and book sales, readings and literary presentations by nearly 100 Texas authors, The Children's Chapter with storytelling and craft activities, special exhibits (including the Guttenberg Bible), musical entertainment, and a First Edition Literary Gala.

On Saturday, November 1st, Gary participated in a session entitled "True Crime: Rape, Murder, and Stolen Art." Panelists included William Honan and the moderator, Jack Keever. The session was held in the Texas State Capitol Extension Auditorium.
